As tens of thousands pour into Nashville to ring in 2017 at the end of the month, it may be one of the biggest collective New Year’s celebrations our town has ever seen.
This year, New Year’s Eve falls on Saturday, so many music venues are starting the party early on Friday and turning their concerts into two-night stands. Throw in the fact that Nashville is currently a red-hot travel destination, and we may have quite a weekend on our hands.
In that case, if you’re looking to go out for some live music, you’ll need to plan ahead. Here’s what’s in store for Music City on New Year’s Eve.
The city’s annual free outdoor New Year’s Celebration is being headlined by Keith Urban this year, and it’s also moved from its former spot on Lower Broadway to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. Additional performers include Keith Urban, Styx, A Thousand Horses, Moon Taxi, Charlie Worsham, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The bash still includes the famous “Music Note Drop” at midnight, followed by fireworks and confetti. The event site opens at 4 p.m., with the show starting at 6:15.
